About this course

Although domestic abuse is an underreported crime, the number of cases reported from 2020 to 2021 increased by 6%. This is a continuing trend indicating increases each year. This course has been created to increase awareness about domestic abuse in the context of providing social care services. We explore the impact on individuals, children, families, relationships and the people who are providing support to victims of abuse. We also look at the new Domestic Abuse Act 2021 which offers greater protection for people being abused and makes prosecuting more straightforward.
